Boko Haram not in South East -Minimah

Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Kenith Minimah has re-assured that the Boko Haram sect is not in the South East geo-political zone.

Minimah, who was at the 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze in Owerri, Imo State  as part of his familiarisation tour of the  Army Formation in the 82 Division, noted that the two incidents in Imo and Abia states allegedly linked to the insurgents could be the handiwork of some elements within the states, who  wanted to take advantage of the insurgency in the country to cause mischief.

“What happened at the Winners Chapel church and Abia State, where suspected Boko Haram insurgents were arrested (even though I don’t want to talk about that of Abia, because it has been established that some people were arrested) we cannot hold it that it is an extension of insurgency.

“Some elements within the states may want to cause trouble. Some mischief-makers might want to take advantage of the insurgency in the country to foment trouble, “ Minimah said.

However, he restated that the Army was more than ready to tackle any insecurity in the country as the force had been undergoing re-training and was being re-equipped.
