Tenn. Mom In Jail, Accused of Killing Newborn Son
A Tennessee woman who stands accused of killing her 3-month-old son is behind bars this week on first-degree murder charges, after spending two weeks in a hospital recovering from unspecified injuries.
Knoxville police confirm in statements obtained by PEOPLE that Tierra Patrice Williamson, 19, has been charged with killing Adrian Howell, Jr., her son who was born on Aug. 1.
The newborn died from blunt force trauma to the head on Nov. 17, according to police.
The Knoxville News Sentinel reports that court documents indicate the child had injuries to other parts of his body that may have further contributed to his death.

“The witnesses stated that from the ground they observed the defendant holding the victim by the neck as he bled from his mouth, as she stood on her third-floor balcony,” reads Williamson’s arrest warrant, according to the paper. “Upon entering (the apartment), the witnesses found the victim covered in blood, and deceased.”
According to WBIR, officers found the three-month-old being held by his father, who was crying as he held the child.
Officers entered her apartment, where they allegedly found Williamson hiding behind window shades, WVLT reports.
