ASP Joseph Kwaji, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the police command in the state made the disclosure on Sunday in Jalingo. He said the herdsmen were waylaid and killed by unidentified group of armed youths along a bush path in the outskirts of Maihula in Bali Local Government Area of the state. In a statement posted on its Website, the Defence Headquarters said 53 terrorists died in the encounter, while the troops lost two of their men, and five others received injuries. The statement said that a fuel dump used for storing fuel, vehicles, including Toyota Hilux trucks, and seven motorcycles were destroyed in the raid. This is according to the latest World Drug Report from UNODC, which was released in Vienna, Austria, on Thursday. The report stated that globally it is estimated that in 2012, between 162 million and 324 million people, corresponding to between 3.5 per cent and 7.0 per cent of the world population aged 15-64, had used an illicit drug, mainly a substance belonging to the cannabis, opiates, cocaine or amphetamine-type stimulants group. Babatunde Fashola had decided to reduce the fees as a result of several protests by the students and civil society groups. The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Aminu Sadiq, disclosed this to newsmen in Katsina.  He said the successes were recorded due to the prompt response by the police to distress calls.  Sadiq said items recovered from the suspects included eight stolen vehicles, of which five were handed over to their owners. He said the remaining items recovered were two AK 47 rifles, one G3 rifle, four locally made revolver pistol, one locally made double barrel rifle, 74 cartridges and more than 250 different live ammunitions.  He said the suspects had already been charged to court for prosecution.
